"Totally Unacceptable"
I should have researched Bruce flooring before I purchased. I assumed wood is wood and as far as I knew Bruce had a good reputation. I replaced the carpet on my entire second floor with Bruce Gunstock. The contractor immediately noticed a large variation in color of the boards within the boxes and even more variation between boxes but we went ahead with the install. I now notice the ends of the boards do not always line up evenly and lay flat with some ends lower by 1/16" or more. Uncomfortable if you step on with bare feet. I note other reviews also mention flaking of the surface finish which I have not yet seem but the floor is brand new. All in all Bruce wood floor is basically junk. I certainly do not recommend it.

"Flaking - Bruce doesn't stand behind their product"
Floor finish is flaking off. Bruce said we used an incompatible product on the floor. We use no product on the floor, but a lighly damp cloth. I would never buy their product again as they do not stand behind their warranty.

"Flaking floors within 2 years"
The finish on our engineered hardwood floors started flaking within 2 years of installation. Had the flooring company and a representative from Bruce come out to the house and they looked at my floors for 2 minutes, and proceeded to tell me its a moisture problem. The flooring company never acclimated the flooring to my home before installation. They came out pre-installation and did a moisture check and my levels were fine. We also run a dehumidifier. Neither Bruce or the flooring company would replace the floors. They are crap! The finish is flaking in multiple places, the finish is dull and it looks terrible! I will never recommend this flooring brand or the flooring company we used.

"Color and top coat began to flake"
I have had Bruce Engineered wood flooring was several years. After about 10 years the color and top coat began to flake. I called Bruce several times as it was in warranty. They gave me the standard run-around. They will not stand by their product. I have always used Bruce Floor Cleaner so that was not the issue. My flooring in my kitchen looks horrible. It has discolored in several places, it flakes from the top coat. Beware this flooring is crap even though it is not cheap. Worse than that is their terrible customer service and a warranty they will not stand behind. I hope karma comes back to them for the way they treat their customers. Again-do not buy this flooring-you will regret it!

"Flaky floors"
Ten years ago we had the carpet removed and Bruce Pre-Engineered hardwood floors installed. I have noticed over the past year or so the finish is lightly flaking off and you can tell big time that some of the boards are missing their sealant/coating. Bruce/Armstrong sent there standard email to contact the contractor and refused to answer even basic questions. I will never purchase flooring from Armstrong again and will warn others as I am in the real estate business. Shame on you Bruce for not standing behind your product warranty!

"Has turned into total junk"
Bruce used to be 'top of the line' ...now it is little better than firewood
The wood is fine... the finish largely good...
their milling ??
Hahaha I can do better on my portable tablesaw and routertable
Boards varied in width by as much as 1/8" making a clean install impossible
Ends of boards are "almost" square ... but still leave wedge gaps
Tounge and grove is so sloppy that boards can 'wiggle' up and down and often could not even be force to be even due to bad alignment.
We shipped the whole 1500sqft back to retailer
.... got a new load (changed color while at it) better -not F grade .... but far from allowing a great floor 'C +' at best
Will no longer recomend this product

"Terrible"
First let me say that I should have consulted reviews on Hardwood floors first and I would have not bought Bruce. I went with Bruce as I have a Bruce floor for 30 yrs and with minimal maintenance have kept it decent looking.
But on opening the first box of flooring and installing we realized the wood was in horrible condition and at that point we had to Quality Control every piece of the 16 boxes we needed.
We found worm holes, cracked floor sections, chipped floors, tremendous variance in color, rotted undersides of the planks, rotted knots on the tongues, machined planks with no tongue, unfinished spots, chips where knots were, ends not in square on planks, splintered wood , gouges etc etc etc. We had 3 boxes of rejects out of 14 boxes. Notified Home Depot and they will cover. Notified Bruce and it appears they could care less.

"Don't install it"
I have had this flooring for 18 years. I tried to contact Bruce Flooring before warranty was up. All I got was a run around. My flooring is flaking, color is blotched and coming off in several areas. I have used nothing but Bruce Floor cleaner. They would do nothing about it. Do not buy this junk product. Customer service is horrible and they do not stand behind warranty. I will never buy Bruce again and hope you don't either. It's horrible.

"Shiny Garbage Scrap wood"
Many we defective out of the box. But the biggest issue is that there were only 2 pieces in each box that were over 48 inches. There were many many many pieces sorter than 1 foot. I wanted a hard wood floor not a patchwork quilt made of wood. I cant believe how bad these warped, damaged, faulty crap, scrap wood pieces were, and that Home Dumpot keeps selling them. I am half way through installing this floor and am stopping and going to find a quality product. I'll take the $500 hit and see what I can get back from Home Depot. This is unbelievable. What a disaster and waste of time... valuable time that is certainly scarce.

"Agree with majority of reviews - aweful flooring"
We purchased about 800 sq.ft of Bruce hardwood, rated at 50yr. wear warranty. It became clear immediately, upon installing the flooring that it was of poor quality. Many of the pieces were defective right out of the box, and we returned about 6 boxes of collective defective pieces. Upon installing, we found that the flooring was easily scratched, dented, and wore with light everyday use. We contacted Home Depot Canada about the deficiencies, and they had a Bruce employee come out to inspect the flooring. He provided a report indicating that the flooring met the manufacturer standards. We went back to Home Depot Canad,a and obtained a goodwill credit for a small percentage of the value.
The net of the experience is that we will never again purchase a Bruce/Armstrong product.
