"Best performing floor I've owned"
I recently had a 6.5in wide engineered maple installed in my house made by Mercier (2400sf). What I've noticed since owning this floor for over a year now, there is no where near the wear on this finish compared to the floors in my last two houses. Previously I could see a wear pattern in the door ways slightly by this point, but it looks as good as the day I bought it. My installer did a fantastic job at all the door ways and transitions. This floor has also not 'yellowed' in front of my living room windows. Floor matched sample perfectly. All around a great floor, and worth the money. No regrets.

"Worst Possible Customer Experience"
Very inconsistent shading between the website and the actual delivered product. Customer service is non-existent. No solutions offered to fix customer issues. There are lots of other similar options out there, that are backed by more reputable companies. Just look through these reviews to know that it's a bad decision to order this wood.

"Major Shrinkage"
We chose to rip up existing hardwood floor instead of sanding and staining and replace it with a Mercier Wire Brush Select & Better solid oak floor. The amount of shrinkage is absolutely horrible. I had the sales rep from the store and rep from Mercier come to the house but they said it was due to lack of humidity. We do have a humidifier on the furnace and 2 stand alone units on the main floor. The old floors didn't shrink like this and none of our wood furniture or my guitars have ever had a problem. Very disappointing to spend that much money and end up with a subquality result. The installation was fine, but I would not recommend their product, especially since they were totally unwilling to do anything.

"Horrible, no customer support"
Anyone who has ever done any home improvement project understands that timely delivery of the material is essential. Now Mercier... Chain of middlemen looks like this - you place an order with a retailer, retailer forwards the order to a distributor, distributor forwards to Mercier. Order numbers between all parties are different and none of that helps to track it. Order supposed to be delivered Oct. 26. Calling retailer, they say nothing has arrived yet. Calling distributor - Michael Halebian in NJ, nobody knows anything, all calls get forwarded to Mercier rep name Bert, who never picks up the phone nor returns calls. New delivery date is Oct. 30. Nothing arrives. Another date is Nov 5. Nothing again. Another Nov 6 - you guessed it, nothing. Same for Nov 7. Finally arrived Nov 8. That is a 2 week delay. Meanwhile contractors are idling, project is way out of schedule and out of budget And now cherry on top - calling Mercier post sales support (Diana) to discuss company responsibilities for delaying the delivery. Never picks up the phone, nor returns calls either. Just like their territory rep Bert. Most likely their company policy... Finally got lucky on day 4 of calling - guess what - "we don't guarantee any delivery dates" response. Yeah, you paid upfront. Yeah, Mercier got your money. Yeah, delay in the delivery was originated at Mercier. And no, Mercier doesn't care about your order, order delivery, communicating delivery delays, or anything else for that matter. You're on your own, minus the money you paid. What a horrible, miserable experience it was dealing with this company! No communication, no customer service, no responsibility for it's own screw-ups - nothing except "we don't care" attitude. Never again! --Max

"Absolutely terrible! Avoid Mercier at all costs!"
This product was recommended by a local flooring retail company as the best product they had at the best price on the market. We chose the maple with gunstock stain and a satin (less than high gloss) finish. I really wish that I had done more research into reviews of Mercier or I would have never used their product. We have invested over $25,000 in this flooring project and it was an absolute waste of money. If we could afford it, I would rip out the flooring and replace it with another brand. We have other hardwood flooring in our house that is over 25 years old, and is in much better condition that our new Mercier floors. The flooring company we purchased the product from was fine, and the install went reasonably well, until they started installing the product on the stairs and the stair edgings came out of the package. For a maple floor they had sent oak stair edgings, with gunstock stain and a high gloss finish. The retailer returned them to the company and re-ordered and they came back exactly the same - oak instead of maple, high gloss finish. Happened twice more, and then we finally got Mercier to send maple stair edgings, unstained and unfinished. I then hired a custom woodworker to complete the installation on the stairs. We had a gunstock stain custom manufactured in Calgary, and finally completed the flooring installation, five months after it started. And once it was installed, it is a terrible product. There is shrinkage to the extent you can see the sub-floor between boards, it is extremely soft and, literally, every little thing that drops on the floor leaves a mark. We are using their recommended cleaner, but, again, literally, every time you walk on the floor in bare or sock feet, it leaves footprints. Cleaning has become almost a daily chore. We were in almost constant communication with the original retail installation company, and they have had absolutely no success in getting Mercier to respond to our concerns. The company representative that calls on their store has promised to come and inspect the issues, but then he just never shows up. Direct communication with the company by email elicits no response, except to say it is either an installation or maintenance problem and nothing to do with them. Avoid this company at all costs, because it will cost you a premium price for an terribly inferior product.

"Unsatisfied"
Cannot believe how disappointed I am, after spending over $15,000. These floors are high maintenance. I used the recommended cleaner but soon after footprints are seen. Made sure to wear socks to no avail. The floors look awful. After calling the tech support I was told I contaminated the floor! I have only used the recommended cleaner. Then was told perhaps cleaner used from foyer left on shoes contaminated the floor. Really?! The floors are so sensitive! What a waste of money. I was assured they were maintenance free. Big mistake. No help with customer service.

"Not a Fan"
We spent more than expected for this flooring because we were told the quality is really good. Looked great when done but within the first couple of months we had boards splitting. Also very hard to clean. You can wash and dry it ten times but still shows footprints. Very disappointed.

"Extremely disappointed"
We recently built a brand new home and unfortunately had chosen Mercier flooring. Once installed, we were very disappointed in the quality. The corners are chipping, but more importantly there are footprints all over. You can wash it 10 times a day and it always looks dirty. We contacted Mercier and the customer service was terrible. They said that "we" must have contaminated the flooring and to try washing it with windex as it sometimes helps their other customers (clearly a common problem of theirs). It didn't work and they wouldn't offer any more support. We do not recommend it.

"Absolute Nightmare"
We bought Mercier brand after the sales rep hyped the quality of their floors & even though it was pricier than many other options; the sales rep assured us it was the best there is. We spend almost $25K on their exotic Santos Mahogany 4 1/2" wide engineered with very thick wear layer. Our floor has been installed on the first floor (glued to concrete) & 2nd floor (nailed to plywood) by a professional installer we obtained from NWFA (National Wood Flooring Association of America) who also charged an arm & a leg for it. 4 months passed & we could feel the floor is warped. We called the installer who came for inspection & stated the wear layer is delaminating! The thick wear layer is coming off the plywood it is glued to. The installer stated this is a manufacturing defect & has nothing to do with the installation since the base of the wood is perfectly glued to the concrete. We called the store who referred us to a supplier of Mercier. The supplier took about 4 weeks to send a claims specialist who works there. His initial "thought" was moisture issues but again my installer rebutted that immediately & offered all readings on the spot. Two weeks later I received a letter stating that Mercier does not warrant claims arising from moisture content and simply we are on our own. We hired a private inspector who made tests in our home & gave us a report stating there was no moisture issue at all & concluded that wood was in fact defective. I'm writing this review just to make consumers aware of this brand & the products they sell. Our next step is court.

"Total disaster"
Brand new house, brand new floor, as soon as we saw the installed floor, [it was covered and dirty] so we weren't able to see the cracks until the floor was cleaned; every room in the house had cracked ends in the flooring we have a complaint filed with the BBB in Halifax; the Eastern BBB has no jurisdiction in Quebec; so they can't do anything to help; Try and file a complaint with the Quebec BBB, and they won't do assist with any complaints outside of Quebec; I highly recommend consumers to stay clear of this company and their product.
