"Love it and want more"
Our daughter installed almost 2,000 sf over 8 years ago, 2 teenagers, parties with their sports team mates and always a dog around and still looks good.
Four years ago we decided to installed the same product in our family room, bedroom, hall and foyer. we are very satisfied with the product and looks good after a cleaning of a mild solution of white vinegar and water. We are now thinking about the dining room.

"Disgusted customer"
I had this engineered hardwood flooring installed in 2014. I am writing now because I am literally at my wits end! I have tried everything from Bona to making my own cleaner. Nothing works! As quickly as you clean it it is spotted with footprints! Over the counter cleaners leave build-up that is impossible to come off. And to top it off everything dents/ scratches it. You can't drop anything or have even the smallest dog or cat because it scratches. I highly recommend not considering this floor. I thought it would outlive me. I was wrong!

"Poor quality hardwood"
Had these floors installed on entire upstairs of my home in May.
Wish I had come here first to read the reviews!
We have had Bruce Gunstock downstairs for over 10 yrs, and had a choice to go w/ that again but the salesperson claimed this would hold up better w/ dogs because it doesn't have such a thick poly coat. It's true you don't get as many surface scratches - instead you get DEEP scratches and dents! We've become much more disciplined about keeping the dogs claws trimmed and they are not allowed to bring bones upstairs anymore because their simply dropping them makes dents/gashes in the floor! The Bruce has held up better over 10 yrs than the Mullican in just a few months! And the dogs spend a lot more time downstairs!
And it's not just the dogs that damage them. Our maid was simply cleaning the floor, w/ a mop and spray intended for hardwood floors, and this happened. A piece of the finish came right off, exposing raw wood underneath! The company who sold us the product sent an installer to replace it but I have no faith that it won't happen again and again, after our 1 yr warranty expires we will be on the hook for these repairs!
The installer said it was probably just an uneven piece and the mop caught it the wrong way. There are lots of uneven boards, with big gaps between them. And how does the finish separate/rip off the top of a supposed solid wood plank anyway? I've read about delamination w/ engineered wood, but Mullican advertises this product as SOLID hardwood!
The Bruce hardwood feels like wood when you walk on it. The Mullican creeks and pops and feels cheap. Based on what I've read here I'm not going to hold my breath that this is a fluke and that Mullican is going to stand behind their 15 yr product warranty. I dread to think what this floor will look like in 10 yrs at this rate.

"Junk Product"
I had a maple pre-finished hardwood floor installed a year ago. The boards were milled very poorly. As a result the longer boards would be tight and snug on one end and then taper to leave a gap on the other end. Several of the boards split lengthwise. I had a representative come out from Mullican to inspect the floor. They determined that the humidity was within parameters and that the nails had been properly placed but refused to stand behind their product. It took them two and half months to decide that there was nothing wrong with the flooring. My installer agreed that the floor did not look good and eventually agreed to install a new floor for free. I purchased new flooring myself for about $2000.00 less than I paid for Mullican flooring. I'm sure there was some middle man costs involved the in flooring price but this product ended up as it started a pile of junk.
Save yourself some headaches and make sure that you are not going to get this flooring when buying a new wood floor.

"Had a year and is great"
We had installed about 1000 sq ft of knob creek hickory hand scraped.
We went on the advice of a local flooring place in farm country in Illinois.
Had a great guy install it.
It is only my wife and I, no pets.
I see alot of negative reviews, I know everyone has an opinion.
But we are very happy.

"Has Mullican changed their QC standards?"
September 2013 I bought about 1000 sq ft of Mullican San Marco Hickory Saddle 3/8 engineered wood. I chose it because of the 6 ft lengths that are included in a standard box, I also needed a color match to our oak staircase and this was a perfect match. I followed instructions and stapled it to a 3/4 inch plywood sub floor in September/October time frame in the north east in house with AC set at 73 deg. I say this so you can understand the humidity at this time of year. It was the first floor I had ever laid. I had no problems with almost all of the contents in terms of quality and it was easy to fix a few boards, and only a few, that were damaged or incorrectly manufactured. The location was a upper floor and included a master bed and two other bedrooms as well as a long hallway and balcony. This statement is written almost 4 years after installation. In this time I have had two small chips, and they were very small, come off the main body of the underlying plywood. Easily fixed with a color pen and the result was invisible. The top of the staircase obviously gets the most wear and is in great condition, no chips, no lifting. Some 6 ft long boards were curved slightly but they were easily corrected if you pressed them down against the floor and tapped them into place. I took a piece of waste material and nailed it to a piece of 4 X 2 with the groove facing outwards and used that to hammer/tap the sections into place. I had no problems with this material at all, I had a roofing felt underlay, stapled every 6 inches with a Lumber Liquidators staple gun (awesome tool by the way). I have just one area of squeaking on my landing, after about 2 years of use, but I am sure that is my sub floor not the hardwood. I will fix that with special screws. I was worried that my installation might have been too tightly fitted. It wasn't and the wood just never moves, no expansion, no contraction in the dry winters, my 3/4 Bruce oak floors on my first floor are tight in summer but I can see the sub floor in some places during the winter.
Now 4 years later I am about to do another 500 sq ft, not connected to my other rooms and I read some of the issues regarding Mullican. I was shocked and hence my question, did Mullican change their QC standards. I am now very concerned about using the product again. I wrote this review to let folks know how this product wears after 4 years of use. If anyone has a comment on the QC issues I would appreciate the feedback.

Redid an entire floor of our home in this product. Had a reputable distributor go to bat for us with Mullican when it was learned that the finish was lifting off of the planks.
Shameful response on the part of Mullican.

Paid extra for an upgrade to Mulligan Quail Hollow hard wood and have
had nothing but trouble with the floors. Squeaks, pops, and board
separation in all installed areas. Avoid this company like the plague!

"Peeled, holes, falling apart"
I had Mullican saddle oak flooring installed in the entire downstairs of
my home less 2 years ago. The wood has literally peeled of the planks,
there are holes that have developed in some of the boards, the flooring
is absolute crap! I called the installation company repeatedly for
months who told me they had to contact the manufacturer I.E. Mullican
and someone would get in touch with me. After 6 months, an independent
flooring inspector came out and agreed that the wood was literally
falling apart. Not normal wear and tear! Of course Mullican disagrees
and is refusing to honor the 30 year warranty on the floors. Will never
purchase this brand of flooring again and now working with the installer
to try to get this crap pulled up and a new flooring installed by a
different manufacturer. Really wish I had the extra funds to sue this
company, but need floors to walk on.
