"Some Strange Postings Here....,"
I purchased Shaw carpeting a few months ago and love it. It's their higher end carpet with the thick padding. I've noticed the latest negative postings which give Shaw a 1 rating out of 5 seem to be worded similar (At least most of them). For the ratings to suddenly go down as they did is unusual. I'm wondering if someone, a competitor or someone who has a grudge posted many of those low ratings. I have 3 friends who have Shaw carpeting and all are satisfied. I realize there will be complaints but not like these all in a row. Strange indeed.

"K-Hov Builder"
We bought our home in 2010 ($500,000.00 Home), and within 3 months noticed the builders grade carpet was starting to show wear, crushing in pathways, and each time I vacuumed the vacuum cleaner had to be emptied as it would become full of fibers. I read in the reviews that the builders keep Shaw in business with this cheap trailer carpet. Understand, there are only two of us who live here and are gone all day at work. We do have two dogs, but they weigh 7 lbs and 20 lbs, and are in a kennel during the day as well. I brought this to the attention of the home builder right away and they blew me off. Said it was normal wear and tear. I consequently continued to complain over the course of the year, and received no service, ad was even ignored. Finally the Shaw company sent out a service rep in February 2012. His results came back that we were using too strong of a vacuum cleaner, maybe a Dyson or Sharp, and we should be cleaning our carpet more regularly...WHAT?? So we were once again denied service and our carpet continues to deteriorate. Yesterday I decided to try one more time because I have to think of replacement because frankly I am embarrassed to have people in. I called the Shaw company to find out to my dismay that they had approved replacement, but K-Hov denied it because they did not want to pay for the labor to replace it. I am livid!!!! Now we shall see what happens...will Shaw replace it with a decent carpet or the same crap, and will K-Kov step up with the labor costs as well as a a new pad???

"builders keep them in business"
Builders looking for cheap carpet are keeping Shaw in business. This is why no one cares about these reviews... Builders are still making a profit.

"Depressed"
My husband and I purchased a Shaw carpet (Platinum) 3 years ago. We are so disappointed. I started noticing the compaction about a year after we had it installed although it may have started earlier and I wasn't paying attention. It doesn't clean well and the warranty isn't worth the paper it was written on. I think they are a poor carpet manufacturer that really doesn't give a crap about their product. I will never buy a Shaw product again and will definitely be telling other people - stay away or you too will be burned. Our saving grace is that the manager of the store we purchased it from is trying to resolve this problem one way or the other. Wish I had read reviews before making the purchase. Never, ever had a problem with carpeting before this fiasco.

"Carpet won't stop stretching and wrinkling"
Purchased Shaw Tuftex/Anso carpeting in a texture pattern and had it professionally installed through Costco 5 months ago. Carpet keeps stretching and wrinkling, even though the installer has been out to re- stretch it. I believe there is a problem with Shaw soft-back carpets. Don't purchase this carpeting.

"extremely poor customer service"
Had trouble after paying for merchandise, contacted store managers and got the run around, Called rite rug company where I purchased the carpet ,no help what so ever and rude on top of that. Contacted Sales rep for area unresponsive/no help. Last Attempt Shaw corporate office..customer service rep....so rude and unhelpful ask to speak to supervisor..was put on hold for 30 minutes at which time I hung up. I have an interior design company and worked in the business for over 20 years and will never buy shaw products again. Contacting attorney...

"Shaw area rugs"
Have waited 3 years for Shaw area carpets, one 7' other 5' to lay flat under furniture. Called store that sold it, they replaced the 7' one...same problem. Finally called Shaw direct they said they were real "sorry" but nothing they could do about the ripples but try laying it upside down or putting something heavy on it. Nothing works! Don't want this experience again so no more Shaw carpets! Buyer beware.

"Design Texture Platinum"
I had Shaw Design Texture Platinum (top of the line) installed one year ago. Almost immediately I started noticing a couple areas with the tips 'fuzzing' and matting. It looks worse at one year than our old carpet at 19 years old. I contacted Shaw online and started a process to have an "independent" inspector look at it. Long story short, they said it was a maintenance issue and not covered by warranty. They said we should have a hot water extraction done. How can that stand up the pile and put the tips together? There are only 2 of us here. We had our old carpeting when we were raising 3 kids and it didn't look like this. We have another brand of carpet in the bedroom and on the stairs for over 5 years and it looks as good as new. Shaw's warranty is worthless. They'll always decide it's not a manufacturing defect. If money were no issue, I'd have it replaced immediately. Never again will I buy from Shaw. Do yourself a favor and run...

"Poor quality"
Installed whole house in April of 2011. In May the carpet had started to mat. The fibers appeared to melt together as though it had not cured before weaving into carpet. I/we immediately reported this to the local dealer along with pictures. They said they would take this under consideration. We than asked to see the local salesperson from Shaw. We were told that this was not allowed. We than got the phone number for Shaw and explained the problem. We were told we had to vacuum daily. This did not work. Finally Shaw sent in an independent party to do an evaluation. Long story short, the carpet was replaced, but not with the carpet we chose. I might add that when we chose the carpet we stated we wanted it to be of a quality to allow for wheelchair use. We were preparing the house for handicap use if needed. Shaw has a display stating the carpet would work for this but when we called Shaw we were told that the carpet would not stand up to that use.

"Do not buy Shaw Carpet!"
Buyer beware! Do not buy Shaw carpet. There warranty means nothing. They are worse then insurance companies. The carpet started to Wrinkle everywhere within the first year. They try and blame the installer. The installer came back and stretched it three times over the last six years. But they still blame installation. Then how come my basement carpet isn't wrinkling?.... Because its not shaw! Now they are saying they are going to void our warranty because we didn't get it cleaned regularly ... How were we suppose to clean it when it's wrinkled everywhere. And as if the cleaning has anything to do with the carpet wrinkling!!!!! Our carpet is perfectly clean. Shaw should give customers written information on their obligations when buying carpet otherwise how are people suppose to know. What a bunch of thiefs!
