"Tin Cup"
I bought Shaw Flooring carpet from Carpet One in Utah. Had it installed
on 03/12/2011. I was told they have one of the "best" warranties. I had
3 requirements - furniture marks come out easily - cat puke stains come
out easily - and no wear patterns. Well I don't have marks from my
furniture and the cat puke stains come out - but I have wear patterns.
After have it inspected twice - and cleaned I was told this condition is
called "shading". This occurs where I walk frequently. To me this is a
wear pattern - and a bad lot of carpet. Shaw Flooring does not stand
behind their product and keeps producing crap. Carpet One has offered to
pay 75% of the cost for new carpet - does not have to be Shaw - but then
I'm into this carpet another $900-$1000. I paid much more than I had
planned because it was such a "good" product according to the salesman.
I will never buy Shaw Flooring again - I would definitely tell others to NOT buy their products!!
In this day when the economy is so bad you would think they would take care of their customers - but they don't - so if in the near future you hear of them going under - we know why!!

"great for 9 years now??"
I read C.R. and carefully looked for all the things they say to check
for quality. That probably helped us make it to 9 years with it looking
great. This year, 1 year before warranty is up, it's not perking up so
well after cleaning any more. Sounds good until you learn that great
carpets should be able to last much longer. My in-laws' carpets have
lasted much longer. We bought the high-end cut pile from Lowe's and top-of-the-
line pad (rubber). The rubber pad has been fantastic. Next time (in a
year or two) I think I'll try one of the higher end lines which may be a
bit more but if they last longer, should be cheaper in the long run. Oh,
and my carpet cleaner does keep turning up lots of fuz from the carpet.
It is still soft, though, color has stayed great, no problems with
stains (come out with carpet machine). The only complaint it that it's
matting more easily now. C.R. did say that it pays to put more into the
pad, not so much into the carpet (but not lowest quality, either). I'd
say I agree.

"Disappointed"
Did so much research and decided on Shaw for living room and hallway
installed October 2010. Here we are 16 months later and the color is
fading plus showing wear patterns. My windows are tinted and have
blinds. Light should not be fading the carpet. As for wear - the only
two in this house are my husband and myself (2 seniors). Very, very
upset and disillusioned. Had an 8lb smart pad installed as well.

"Shaw matting carpet"
We put Shaw carpet in our whole house in Sept. 2011. The carpet was
rated for 7/10 wear resistance and this wasn't the cheapest carpet by
any means. By Nov. we noticed matting, even in the closets! We called
the local dealer (Great Lakes Carpet and Tile), who had poor customer
communication and they simply said we needed to vaccum it 3-4
times/week! This didn't take care of the issue and after weeks of
trying to get something more done, an inspector came out in January.
After about 6 weeks, Shaw informed us that the matting was "normal
wear" and not warranty. When friends come over, they ask "Didn't you
get new carpet?' Because our 6 month old carpet looks like a 5 yr. Old
carpet! Absolutely terrible product, especially for the money we spent!
I will never buy anything from Shaw again. Terrible product; terrible
customer support!

"Expensive Horrible Lesson"
After my nest emptied, I invested in a "good carpet". I picked out a
beautiful Shaw frieze in shades of brown. It was so soft and lush,
with strands an inch long. I also invested in an 8 lb Shaw pad, the
best in stock, and was told that this would even double the warranty
of the carpet!
I loved this carpet... for about a year. Then it started laying down. I got a carpet rake. Tried Host cleaner first (recommended by local carpet store). Then got it steam cleaned. Nothing worked so I called Shaw. They sent out guys who took pictures and pulled strands of carpet. They took a pad and carpet sample from an extra piece in the garage and filed it with a report. Oh, guess what? Yep. Normal wear and tear.
This is NOT normal. The strands are laying down flat. The carpet in the traffic areas is fuzzy. The carpet on the stairs looks awful. It doesn't even feel like there's any pad at all under the traffic areas. My 15 year old contractor-grade carpet looked better than this!
I will NEVER again buy a Shaw carpet or pad.

"Warranty Not Honored!"
We purchased Shaw carpeting for our home. Within one year of purchase
the carpet had delamination (backing separated from carpet). Shaw Inc
sent out a independent inspector who claims it was either from
"installation" or "environmental influences". Claim Denied! Do not
use Shaw! They have been horrible to deal with and are a sub-par
flooring company.

"Worse carpet ever"
I had Shaw Berber carpet installed about 3 years ago. Within 6 months
snags started to appear, it was supposed to be snag proof, and a few
months later as I was vacuuming and few long strands of the carpet tore
out and wrapped around the brush. Snags continue to appear and another
few strands tore out. This is the worst carpet I have ever seen, it is in
worse shape than the old carpet that was 20 years old. I will not buy
this brand name carpet again or recommend to anyone.

"DEFECTIVE CARPET"
We had our whole house carpeted with Shaw, we went with burgundy in
living room and dining room and hall. The color was immediately coming
out on socks and linoleum, we contacted installer and they replaced
all, one year later it is still doing the same. We were fed up and did
not want to argue so we deal with it.

"AWEFUL!!! Carpet 7 Months old."
We took possession of our house in middle of April 2011. As of October,
we already have crushing and matting issues with this product. The say
it isn't covered by warranty. Well, what is covered then?
I have noticed how many people have complained and I am curious to know why Ryan Homes have decided to use this garbage company to supply carpet? I plan to make my OPINION known by chain emails, FaceBook, Twitter, Angie's list, the Better Business Bureau and every review board I can find. Shame on you Ryan Homes for contracting these fools!

"Horrible carpet"
We purchased the Shaw "Great Scott" carpet when we built a new house.
Being a new house with new carpet we never wore shoes on it. Within one
year the carpet had lost the luster it had and was now a flat color and
also had very bad flattened trails in the hallways and living area. Even
though I had to move all of my stuff myself, the carpet was replaced for
free. Within 8 months, the new carpet looked the same and I was told the
wear was normal. I will never have shaw again.
